architect amirabbas aboutalebi of AAdesign, was commissioned to build an administrative building for kaveh glass group, an iranian industrial glass umbrella corp. located in darabad-tehran, the purpose of the structure was to provide more space, and easier access to transportation, for several thousand employees. the site forced the design team to create a linear plan, so emphasis was placed on the creation of non-monotonous spaces which could evade the expected.
‘kaveh glass office building’
creativity in the project was strictly limited to a framework that included light, color, and space. natural light is indispensable within the design, and brings energy savings and psychological wellness to the some 4,000 employees working within. each plaza in the ‘kaveh glass office building’ is composed of interlocking octagon shapes.

besides natural light, which is made interesting by thousands of panes of colored glass and mosaic tiles, solar heating and natural ventilation were imperative. the building contains four buffer zones and a central atrium, which circulate used air, and retain heat during cold months.
