hong kong-based practice cybertecture led by james law has unveiled a mixed-used development building shaped as a glass sphere. imagined for the jebel ali free zone in dubai, the ‘technosphere’ building is a concept that explores the technologies needed for a scheme of this scale and volume. the circular form would be wrapped in an outer layer of glass, with random openings revealing outdoor terraces and glimpses of the many-leveled interior and the core atrium stretching from the ground to the ceiling. derived from the nature and form of earth itself, an eco-system following a ‘planetary cybertecture’ approach would be created to enable the complex to sustain itself.
