Designer Dream Bath Competition Winners Announced

A prize of $10,000 worth of Duravit product was at stake for the company’s third annual Designer Dream Bath competition, which invites architects and designers to reimagine their own baths outfitted with Duravit’s new products. But, to shake things up a bit, the manufacturer opened the competition to built projects for the first time, so long as they were completed in the 2014 to 2015 period. This newly added category awarded $5,000 worth of product.

Built project winner: Intexure.

Winning the inaugural built project prize was Intexure for a house in Houston. This sprawling home impressively incorporated Duravit products — Darling New, SensoWash C, Ketho, Delos, and OpenSpace — in every single bathroom and even utilized Duravit furniture as storage pieces in other spaces such as closets.

“Intexure used Duravit products in ways we’ve never seen before,” said Tim Schroeder, president of Duravit USA. “Their outside-the-box thinking uses Duravit products to enhance their home’s modern look, all while creating usable and timeless bathrooms that work with their family’s lifestyle.”

Unbuilt category winner: Mark Mangapora.

Mark Mangapora won the unbuilt category, reimagining a new layout for the bathroom, combining the tub and shower into a single wet room to create newly usable space. Mangapora included various ME by Starck, Cape Cod, and L-Cube pieces in his concept.

“He applied all three [new] Duravit collections in creative ways to solve the design problems his bathroom presented and integrated texture and light to add warmth to the space,” said Schroeder.
